Thunderstorms

Thunderstorms are my favorite forms of weather, and I am completely obsessed by them. The summer monsoon season is the most active period for thunderstorms in SoCal, when warm, moist tropical air flows out of northwest Mexico into the deserts and mountains, and occasionally into the valleys west of the mountains, triggering pulse and multicelled thunderstorms, and occasional supercells. Some people say that thunderstorms are "rare" in California, but in truth, that is completely false! Thunderstorms occur everywhere in California, some areas more than others depending on the time of year. Even supercell thunderstorms can occur in California, mainly during the winter and spring.
